Qatar claims to have succeeded in slowing the country of novel Coronavirus transmission

Qatari ministry of Health announced on August 8 that the country had successfully slowed the viral transmission of novel Coronavirus and the number of new confirmed cases in a single day began to decline.

Qatar’s Ministry of Health reported On Wednesday 1,368 new cases, 70158 confirmed, 57 dead and 45,935 cured.
By comparison, the number of new confirmed cases reported on The 5th, 6th and 7th was 1,754, 1,700 and 1,595 respectively.

In a statement on its website, Qatar’s ministry of Health said the number of confirmed cases and severe cases in a single day had dropped as a result of measures such as raising public awareness and enforcing anti-epidemic policies.

The measures include quarantining all arrivals, suspending public transport, banning international passenger flights, distance learning in schools and closing cinemas and theatres.
Starting May 17, all people must wear masks when they go out and when there are more than two people in the vehicle, or face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 200,000 riyals ($55,000), or both.
