Description
Zotide is a medication used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men who are at high risk of bone fractures. It contains the active substance Teriparatide and is manufactured by Cipla Limited. Zotide is available in the form of a 750 mcg injection, sold in a pack of 3 ml injections.

HOW TO USE:
Zotide should be injected daily subcutaneously (under the skin) as directed by your doctor. The recommended dosage for Zotide is 750 mcg/day. The duration of treatment varies depending on individual response to treatment and the severity of osteoporosis.
Storage Conditions:
Zotide should be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze or shake the medication. Keep the medication out of the reach of children and pets.
Mechanism of action:
Zotide contains teriparatide, which is a synthetic parathyroid hormone. It works by stimulating the growth of new bone and improving bone density, reducing the risk of fractures. Teriparatide works by activating the bone-building cells (osteoblasts) and inhibiting the bone-resorbing cells (osteoclasts).
Precautions:
Zotide should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypercalcemia, bone cancer, bone metastases, or Paget’s disease. It should also be used with caution in patients with a history of stroke, heart disease, or kidney disease.
Contraindications:
Zotide is contraindicated in patients allergic to Teriparatide or any other inactive ingredients in the medication. It should also not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Drug Interactions:
Zotide may interact with other medications, such as corticosteroids and diuretics, to affect their efficacy. Inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking to avoid any interactions.
Overdose:
Overdose of Zotide can lead to hypercalcemia, which can cause nausea, vomiting, confusion, and increased thirst. Seek immediate medical attention in case of an overdose.
Side Effects:
Common side effects of Zotide include nausea, dizziness, and injection site reactions. It may also cause high calcium levels, which can cause kidney stones, muscle weakness, and confusion. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any severe side effects while taking Zotide.
