Hepcinat Plus is a combination medication consisting of Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir, which are both antiviral drugs used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The medication is manufactured by Natco Pharma Ltd., and comes in tablet form with a pack of 28 tablets.
USES:
Hepcinat Plus is primarily used to treat adults with genotype 1, 2, 3, and 4 chronic HCV infection, with or without cirrhosis. This medication helps to lower the amount of hepatitis C virus in the body, which can lead to improved liver function and reduce the risk of long-term complications, such as liver failure, liver cancer, and liver transplantation.
HOW TO USE:
It is important to take Hepcinat Plus exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose is one tablet taken orally once a day, with or without food. Your doctor will determine the duration of treatment based on your individual medical condition, previous treatment history, and response to therapy.
STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Keep Hepcinat Plus at room temperature between 15-30°C, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat. Store the medication in a safe place where children and pets cannot reach.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir work by blocking the replication of the hepatitis C virus in the infected liver cells. Sofosbuvir interferes with the enzyme that is required for the virus to reproduce and replicates, while Daclatasvir inhibits a protein required for the virus to propagate and spread in the body.
PRECAUTIONS:
Before taking Hepcinat Plus, inform your doctor if you have ever had liver problems, HIV infection, kidney disease, heart disease or any other medical conditions. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding before taking this medication.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not use Hepcinat Plus if you are allergic to Sofosbuvir, Daclatasvir, or any other ingredient in the medication. Do not take Hepcinat Plus if you are taking any other medications that interact with Sofosbuvir or Daclatasvir.
INTERACTIONS:
Hepcinat Plus may interact with other medications, such as rifampin, St. John’s wort, carbamazepine, phenytoin, and others. Always inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking before starting Hepcinat Plus.
OVERDOSE:
Taking more than the prescribed dose of Hepcinat Plus can cause serious side effects. In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention or call your local poison control center.
SIDE EFFECTS:
The common side effects of Hepcinat Plus may include headache, fatigue, nausea, insomnia, itching, and skin rash. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor immediately.
