Description
Velpaclear, also known as Velpatasvir and Sofosbuvir tablets, is a medication used to treat chronic hepatitis C infections. It contains a combination of Velpatasvir and Sofosbuvir as active ingredients and is manufactured by Abbott India Ltd. Each pack of Velpaclear contains 28 tablets with a strength of Velpatasvir 100 mg and Sofosbuvir 400 mg.
Uses:
Velpaclear is used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 infections in adults. It is a combination therapy that works by preventing the growth and replication of the virus in the body. Velpaclear may be used for patients who have not previously received treatment for their hepatitis C infection or who have failed previous treatments.
Usage and Dosage:
Velpaclear should be taken orally by swallowing the tablet with water. The recommended dosage is one tablet per day, taken at the same time every day. The medication may be taken with or without food.
Storage Conditions:
Velpaclear should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. The medication should be kept in its original container with the lid tightly closed.
Mechanism of Action:
Velpatasvir and Sofosbuvir work together to inhibit the HCV RNA polymerase, an enzyme that is essential for the replication of the virus. This slows down the growth and spread of the virus in the body, and ultimately helps to eliminate the virus from the body.
Contraindications:
Velpaclear is not recommended for use in patients who are allergic to Velpatasvir, Sofosbuvir or to any of the excipients used in the medication. Interactions:
Velpaclear may interact with other medications, including rifampin, certain HIV medications and certain anticonvulsants. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking before starting Velpaclear.
Adverse Reactions:
The most common side effects of Velpaclear include headache, fatigue, nausea, and diarrhea. Other side effects may include anemia, decreased appetite, and rash. If any adverse reactions occur, the patient should speak with their doctor for advice.
