Diovan-320 is a medication used to treat high blood pressure. It contains the active substance valsartan, which works by relaxing blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the workload of the heart. It comes in a pack of 28 tablets, each containing 320mg of valsartan.
USES:
Diovan-320 is commonly used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure, and post-heart attack conditions. It is also used to help prevent kidney damage in diabetic patients.
HOW TO USE:
It is important to follow the dosage instructions specified by your healthcare provider. The usual recommended dose is one tablet of Diovan-320 once per day, with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablets; swallow them whole. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible, but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Store this medication at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it out of the reach of children.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Valsartan, the active substance in Diovan-320, belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which is responsible for constricting blood vessels and increasing blood pressure. This leads to relaxation of blood vessels, improved blood flow, and decreased workload on the heart.
PRECAUTIONS:
Before using this medication, inform your healthcare provider of any allergies, medical conditions or medications that you may be taking. Diovan-320 should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless recommended by your healthcare provider.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not use Diovan-320 if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Avoid this medication if you have severe liver or kidney disease, or if you are taking aliskiren (a blood pressure medication).
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Inform your healthcare provider of all medications, supplements and herbal products you may be taking, as some medications may interact with Diovan-320. For instance, taking Diovan-320 with other blood pressure-lowering medications may lead to a further decrease in blood pressure.
OVERDOSE:
If you take more than the prescribed dose of Diovan-320, seek immediate medical attention. Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, fainting, and rapid heartbeat.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Common side effects of Diovan-320 include headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and coughing. In rare cases, serious side effects such as acute kidney failure, liver problems, and allergic reactions may occur. If you notice any unusual symptom, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
