Description
Humatropen is an injectable medication that contains the active ingredient Somatropin. It is available in a size of 1 pack (24mg) and has a dosage of 72 IU.
Composition:
Humatropen is made up of an artificial version of the human growth hormone known as Somatropin. It is designed to replace or supplement the hormones that are naturally produced by the pituitary gland in the body.
Uses:
Humatropen is used for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children and adults. It is also used to treat short bowel syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Turner syndrome, and chronic kidney disease associated with growth failure. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Thalassemia, Noonan syndrome, and SHOX deficiency.
Usage and Dosage:
Humatropen should be used as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner. The recommended dosage for adult patients is 0.15 to 0.30 mg per kilogram of body weight per week. Pediatric patients should be given a dosage of 0.16 to 0.24 mg per kilogram of body weight per week. The dosage may vary depending on the individual patient’s response and specific medical condition.
Storage Conditions:
Humatropen should be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze or expose the medication to high temperatures. Once reconstituted, it can be stored for up to 28 days in a refrigerator.
Mechanism of Action:
Humatropen works by stimulating the liver and other tissues in the body to produce Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), which promotes growth.
Contraindications:
Humatropen is contraindicated in patients that have a hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, Somatropin. It should not be used in patients with active malignancy or with a history of hypersensitivity to any other ingredients in the medication.
Interactions:
Humatropen may interact with a number of medications, including glucocorticoids, sex steroids, and thyroid hormones. Be sure to inform your healthcare provider of any medications or supplements you are taking before using Humatropen.
Side Effects:
Common side effects of Humatropen include swelling, redness, or pain at the injection site, headaches, nausea, and joint pain. Additional side effects may include fluid retention, carpal tunnel syndrome, and high blood sugar levels. This works quite well for me. I don’t know if anyone else uses it or had adult onset growth hormone deficiency and also developed this condition from Gulf War Syndrome. When I started taking the Humatrope, my bone density went from a -4 to a -2.3 and hopefully is still going up. My focus and concentration improved and my irritability and my energy level went way up! Humatrope first started being used in 1987 I have read. I started taking daily shots in 1988. At the time I was 14 years old, 5’4″, 170lbs, and had ZERO growth hormone in my body. As it stood without treatment it appeared that I would never hit puberty. I began taking daily shots every day for two years. During that time I only missed two days. I grew from 5’4″ to 6′ by 16 years of age and weighed the same weight that I had before I began the shots. My body developed normally and I noticed no side effects. Even after I stopped taking the shots I still continued to grow an additional inch. My farther is 5’10”, my older brother is 5’11” and I am 6’1″. It worked PERFECTLY for me.
